Laser Hair Removal

The Gold Standard in Comfortable Hair Removal

Unwanted hair can be frustrating, time-consuming, and sometimes painful to manage. At SharpLooks MED SPA in Langley, we offer Soprano ICE Laser Hair Removal — one of the safest, most effective, and most comfortable solutions available today. Whether it’s your face, legs, arms, bikini line, or back, Soprano ICE delivers long-lasting smoothness without the hassle of shaving or waxing.
Known for being virtually painless, safe, and effective on all skin types and tones, it’s the gold standard in laser hair removal. Whether you want to treat a small area or achieve full-body smoothness, Soprano ICE makes it possible.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused light energy to target and disable hair follicles at the root. Over a series of treatments, the follicles become unable to produce new hair, leaving your skin smooth, soft, and stubble-free.

Unlike temporary methods like shaving or waxing, laser hair removal provides a long-term solution that saves time, prevents irritation, and reduces the risk of ingrown hairs.

How Soprano ICE Works?

Soprano ICE uses advanced multi-wavelength diode laser technology combined with cooling and gradual heating techniques to safely and effectively destroy hair follicles.
Multi-Wavelength Technology
755nm Alexandrite: Effective for lighter and finer hairs, works close to the surface.
810nm Diode: The “gold standard” wavelength for most hair types and areas.
1064nm Nd:YAG: Safely penetrates deeper follicles, perfect for darker or tanned skin.
In-Motion™ Technology
Instead of one strong pulse, the laser is delivered in a continuous sweeping motion. This gradually builds heat in the follicle, making the process more comfortable while ensuring full coverage.
ICE™ Cooling System
The handpiece has a sapphire cooling tip that keeps the skin surface continuously cooled, reducing discomfort and minimizing risks.
Selective Photothermolysis
The laser targets melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, converting light into heat. This heat damages the follicle so it can no longer grow hair, while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

What Happens During a Treatment?

Laser Application – The technician will use the Soprano ICE handpiece to deliver laser pulses to the treatment area. The system’s cooling technology ensures that the skin remains comfortable and protected. The handpiece is moved in gentle motions over the skin.
Sensations – You may feel a slight warming or tingling sensation, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated due to the cooling mechanism. Most clients describe it as comfortable, similar to a “hot stone massage.”
Duration – Small areas (like the upper lip) can take just 5 minutes, while larger areas (like legs or back) may take longer time
Aftercare – The gel is removed, and a soothing cream or aloe is applied. You can return to normal activities immediately.

Why Multiple Sessions Are Needed?

Since only 20–30% of your hair is in the anagen phase at any given time, lasers can’t remove all hair in one session. That’s why treatments are spaced out (every 4–8 weeks, depending on the body area), so that when more hairs enter the anagen phase, the laser can target them effectively.

Hair Growth Phases

Hair grows in three main phases:
1.Anagen (Active Growth Phase)
The hair is actively growing and still attached to the follicle.
The hair shaft contains the most melanin (pigment).
Laser hair removal works best in this phase because the laser energy can travel down the shaft into the follicle and destroy the root.

2.Catagen (Transition Phase)
Short phase (about 2–3 weeks).
Hair detaches from the blood supply and stops growing.
Laser is less effective here because the follicle is no longer well-connected.

3.Telogen (Resting/Shedding Phase)
The follicle is at rest, and hair eventually falls out naturally.
Laser does not work in this phase because there’s no active pigment target.

Treatment Schedule

Because not all hair is in the growth (anagen) phase at the same time, multiple sessions are required.
Face: Every 4–6 weeks
Body: Every 6–8 weeks
Number of sessions: Typically 6–8 treatments for optimal results
Maintenance: Occasional touch-ups once or twice a year may be recommended

Pre-Care Instructions (Before Your Treatment)

To ensure the best results and safety during your laser hair removal sessions, please follow these guidelines:

4 Weeks Before Treatment
Avoid waxing, plucking, threading, or electrolysis. These remove the hair root, which the laser targets.
Do not tan (natural sun, tanning beds, or spray tans). Tanned or sunburned skin cannot be treated safely.
If you must be outdoors, wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
Schedule your consultation with a qualified technician to review your skin type, hair color, medical history, and treatment goals.

1–2 Weeks Before Treatment
Stop using self-tanners on the treatment area.
If possible, discontinue photosensitive medications (certain antibiotics, Accutane, acne creams) — but only after consulting your doctor.
Keep skin well hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.

3–5 Days Before Treatment
Stop using retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHA/BHA peels, scrubs, or harsh exfoliants on the treatment area.

24 Hours Before Treatment
Shave the treatment area so hair is flush with the skin. Do not wax, pluck, bleach, or use depilatory creams.
Ensure skin is clean and free of irritation.

On the Day of Treatment
Arrive with clean, product-free skin (no lotion, deodorant, perfume, makeup, or oils).
Wear loose, comfortable clothing if treating large areas.

Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking new medications, or have recent skin conditions.

Post-Care Instructions (After Your Treatment)

It is normal to experience mild redness, swelling, or warmth in the treated area for a few hours up to 1–2 days. This means the hair follicles have responded to the laser. Follow these guidelines to protect your skin and achieve the best results:

Immediate Care (First Few Hours)
Mild redness or slight swelling around the follicles is common and usually subsides quickly.
Apply a cool compress or pure aloe vera gel to soothe the skin if needed.
Avoid scratching, picking, or rubbing the treated area.

First 24–48 Hours
Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise (sweating can irritate the skin).
Do not apply makeup, deodorant, perfumes, or harsh skincare products on the treated area.
Protect skin from sun exposure. If you must be outdoors, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen.

First Few Days
The treated area may feel like a mild sunburn. This is normal.
Keep skin clean, hydrated, and avoid irritants.

1 Week After Treatment
Continue to avoid direct sun exposure and always use SPF 30+.
Do not use self-tanners or bronzing products on the treated area.
Avoid exfoliants, peels, or retinoids until your skin feels completely back to normal.

1–3 Weeks After Treatment
Treated hairs will begin to shed naturally. This may appear like new growth, but it is actually the old hair being pushed out.

Long-Term Results
With each session, hair becomes finer, lighter, and less noticeable until smooth, lasting results are achieved.

Important Reminders

Consistency is key — attend all scheduled sessions.
Protect your skin with sunscreen daily during the entire course of treatments.
Report any unusual reactions (blisters, persistent redness, or skin changes) to your provider immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it painful?

Most clients describe the treatment as warm and comfortable, not painful. Thanks to the cooling system, it feels more like a gentle massage.

How many sessions will I need?

On average, 6–8 sessions provide long-lasting results. The exact number depends on your hair color, thickness, skin type, and the area being treated.

Can I do laser hair removal if I have dark skin?

Yes! Soprano ICE is designed to treat all skin tones safely, unlike older laser systems.

When will I see results?

Some clients notice hair reduction after the first treatment, but the most visible results appear after a few sessions.

Is it permanent?

Soprano ICE offers long-lasting reduction. While most hair will not grow back, occasional maintenance treatments may be needed depending on hormones, genetics, and lifestyle.

Can I shave between sessions?

Yes. Shaving is the only recommended method between treatments because it leaves the follicle intact for the laser to target. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading, as these remove the root and make the laser less effective.

Is there any downtime?

No. You can return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. Some clients experience mild redness or warmth in the treated area, which usually subsides within a few hours.

Which areas can be treated?

Soprano ICE can be used almost anywhere on the body, including the face, underarms, arms, legs, back, chest, and bikini area.
